When it first opened in 1910 as a center for healthy and holistic living, East Liberty was the first stop for arrivals from the coast. A nexus of trains, trolleys and autocars. The Bijou Dream Nickelodeon packed ‘em in and was quickly joined by the Cameraphone, Regent, Liberty, Empire, Triangle, Haltis, Sheridan Square, and Enright Theaters. Which would provide the stages for Gene Kelly, Dick Powell, Billy Strayhorn, Erroll Garner, Billy Escktein, Mary Lou Williams and the like.
Then as now, East Liberty was in the midst of a renaissance. Mixing the ingredients of a modern lifestyle, designed by Moss Architects, the Y Lofts features 40 units ranging in size from 700 to 1,500 square feet, on floors two through five. First-floor retail space is expected to house a restaurant, coffee bar and fitness center. Amenities will include a roof deck, underground secured parking, dog washing station, and bike storage.
Stake your claim at the Y Lofts, in the historic East Liberty neighborhood, where century old architecture meets today’s lifestyle. And be part of the neighborhood’s Renaissance.
